Dear younger Aimée,
I know you don't know me, but I know you. I know you so well, and in a way you influence my life today. That's right. I know you. I know you're going through a lot. I know you're scared to act like you care, I know you're scared that when people get to know you they'll hate you, and I especially know how much what happened in fifth grade affected you.
Sweetie, don't be afraid to make friends. People don't despise you as much as you think they do. You're not as ugly as you think you are. You don't have to be rude to people to avoid being hurt. It's just going to hurt you more. I know what you want to hear. I know you want to hear that you'll settle down in San Diego, have loads of friends, and your parents will stop worrying about what's going on with those so-called 'friends of the family.'
Please forgive me for saying this, but that's not gonna happen, and the sooner you accept it the better. Life will be so much easier for you if you just go with it. Take friends as they come and hold on to them no matter what. Take moving as it comes and try your best to fall in love with your new home. Because if you don't... well, if you don't you'll end up like me. You'll end up where I am now. Afraid.
Remember that verse you like? Psalm 27:1? Cling to it. GOD is your Rock and even when everything changes He's still there for you. I know this is difficult to understand but He's all you need. Make sure you follow Him and stick to His will for your life.
Be positive, querida. And when that guy with the perfect smile comes along, be his friend and nothing more. Everything will get better, just not the way you expect it to.
Sincerely,
Present Day Aimée
I've wondered where that verse was found. :) I also like Psalm 56:3-4. And Psalm 55:22.
